Khattar was speaking after he virtually launched the project air care under which 65 air purifiers are being installed in the city at 20 different locations. The project has been launched by GMDA in association with Glaxosmithklien.
“The rising levels of air pollution in Haryana, especially in Gurugram is a case of serious concern for all of us. As we move towards the festive season, we would like to bring some relief to citizens with the installation of multiple WAYU air purifiers at strategic junctions. I welcome this public-private partnership with GSK Consumer Healthcare and urge other corporate to join the movement in building a clean and green city, Khattar said.
He further added, “Curbing pollution levels is everyone’s responsibility and we need to come together to bring about a change. While the government and industry bodies are implementing various laws, I urge citizens to contribute by making small changes in their everyday life like encouraging carpooling, using bicycles and ensuring proper waste disposal.”
Navneet Saluja, area managing director, GSK consumer healthcare, India Subcontinent added, “We are thankful to the Haryana government and GMDA for this partnership. We plan to install these air purifiers across various locations in Gurugram under our CSR project ‘Mission Health’. This may only be a small step in the battle to secure cleaner air for all, but I fundamentally believe that it’s an important one to take, and one that can make a difference to the lives of people of Gurugram.”
The WAYU air purifiers have been developed by CSIR- National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and customised to address the rising levels of pollution. The implementation partner, IPCA will install, maintain and ensure the upkeep of the advanced air purifiers.
