New Delhi, Nov 12 (UNI) The Government on Thursday announced the launch of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana' with the aim of providing employment to those who lost jobs in the Corona pandemic.
'A new Scheme Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana is being launched to incentivise creation of new employment opportunities during the COVID recovery phase,' Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said while announcing Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 package at a press conference here. Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur was also present.
The Finance Minister while announcing the Atmanirbhar Bharat 3.0 package said the 'Pradhan Mantri Rozgar Protsahan Yojana' was launched in March last year and now a new scheme has been started. Its benefits will be given to those whose jobs have gone away during the Corona period.
The scheme will be available to those registered with the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). The scheme will run till June 30, 2021. Under this scheme, people whose salary is less than Rs 15,000 crore monthly and are registered with EPFO, will be benefited.
Under the scheme the government will give 24 per cent stake of EPFO to both employees and employers with one thousand or less employees, for two years.
The government will contribute 12 percent of the employee's share in the EPFO of those working in organisations with more than one thousand employees.
