Violence and nudity will not be visible on the OTT platform

OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney Hotstar will come under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and will be subjected to violence and nudity.

Indeed, until now there was no autonomous body to control digital media, so everything from excessive violence to nudity was being served on OTT. Many times the High Court and Supreme Court have also expressed concern about this.

Last month, the Supreme Court sent notices to the central government, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the Mobile Association of India on a petition seeking regulation on the OTT platform.

It was said in the petition that through these OTT platforms, filmmakers and actors have got an opportunity to release their content for fear and certifications of the censor board. The Supreme Court in one case advocated that control over digital media be more important than TV. After this, the government has taken this step.

The government says that there is a Press Council for the regulation of print, the News Broadcasters Association for news channels, the Advertising Standards Council of India for advertising, and the Central Board of Film Certification for films. But there was no autonomous agency regulating the digital medium.

Let us know that in addition to news websites like The Wire, The Print, and Scroll, the OTT platform also comes with entertainment apps like Hotstar, Woot, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sony Live, and G5.
