As many as 107 tested positive for Covid while three lost their lives to the virus in the district on Wednesday.
The Covid cases are on the rise as active cases in the district have reached 700 at present.
The Health Department has confirmed 124 cases, including 107 from Ludhiana and 17 from other districts or states, today. Of the 107 patients of Ludhiana district, 21 were contacts of positive patients, 22 visited the OPD and 49 with influenza-like illness visited the flu corner. Besides, 15 others including a police official, two healthcare workers and a traveller, were among those who were tested positive for the virus.
Civil Surgeon Rajesh Bagga said eight persons, including three from Ludhiana districts, one each from Hoshiarpur, Moga, Sangrur, Bathinda and Kapurthala, have died of the virus today. Ludhiana residents 62-year-old man from Chawani Mohalla, 73-year-old man from Bazra Mohalla and 83-year-old man from GTB Nagar breathed their last. At present, 11 patients, including four from Ludhiana and seven from other districts, are on ventilator.
According to information, till date, a total of 4,09,446 samples have been taken, of which reports of 4,07,810 have been received. Of them, 3,83,813 samples were found negative while results of 1,636 samples were pending.
The district administration appealed to residents to follow all directions of the state government and if they would stay indoors, they would not only stay safe themselves but would also contribute to keeping everyone around safe. People are being appealed to adhere to all Covid-19 safety protocols and wear mask.
