A strong second half showing has ensured that Banyana Banyana will contest the final of the COSAFA Women's Championship after they thrashed Malawi 6-2 in a semi-final clash Port Elizabeth on Thursday.
The first half saw few clear cut chances for South Africa who gained a numerical advantage in the 20th minute after Malawi's Samir Amidu received her marching orders for a dangerous tackle on Hilda Magaia.
The second half was a completely different story as South Africa took the lead in the 51st minute when the Malawian goalkeeper came for a free-kick but couldn't hold on.
A goalmouth scramble resulted with Mapula Kgoale bundling the ball over the line for a 1-0 lead to Banyaya
That lead was short-lived, however as Temwa Chawinga drew Malawi level just two minutes later.
Magaia restored Banyana's lead in the 63rd minute as she muscled her way between two defenders and poked a long ball into the Malawian net for a 2-1 lead.
Just a minute later, South Africa scored again after Robyn Moodaly squared up Kgoale in the Malawian box who calmly blasted home her second of the match and a 3-1 lead.
A fourth followed in the 70th minute as Magaia found space on the right hand side of the box to fire the ball home as Banyana put their extra player to good effect.
Malawi were now shell-shocked and South Africa scored their fifth goal thanks to Sibulele Holweni before Magaia claimed her hat-trick in the 76th minute as Banyana pushed their lead out to 6-1.
Malawi showed some fight as the game wound down with Tabitha Chawinga getting on the scoresheet to join her sister, making the score 6-2 in the process.
And that's the way it stayed as South Africa will now face Botswana in the final after they beat Zambia 2-1.
