Instagram has been down for nearly 24 hours now. Complaints started coming in yesterday morning, on November 10, of timelines not refreshing to show new posts. The complaints soon expanded to the number of likes not getting updated to screen showing blank feed and getting stuck on buffering.
Other users complained of being unable to watch Instagram Stories, answer Direct Messages, or check their Activity tab.
Both Android and iOS users reported the glitch, so the problem is not restricted to just one operating system. Facebook owned-Instagram is yet to issue a comment on what is causing problems for the app to load and when will it likely be fixed.
Users tried everything, from checking the WiFi router, switching to mobile data to force closing app, all to no avail.
Downdetector, an independent service that when web apps and online services, like Instagram, are down for users, first spotted the issue around 10 AM yesterday. The complaints continued to surge throughout the day hitting a peak around 10 pm last night.
Users also flocked to Twitter to share their sorrow:
Instagram has not worked for almost 6 hours, I deleted it from my device, I restarted my phone, I deactivated my internet but it still works like that. Someone else? Does someone know how to solve this problem? #instagramdown #Instagram @instagram pic.twitter.com/RfijAcyOm8

23 hours go by...I’m done complaining. I want my Instagram back. NOW.
RT if you’re STILL unable to access it either via their app or browser #InstagramDown

Some users believe that it may have been due to Instagram's recent update.
