“With TN heading towards Assembly polls, the death anniversary will be a key event for the ruling AIADMK to energise its cadre and bring in a few functionaries from the AMMK,” an AIADMK leader who is also a district secretary told DT Next.
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami is also keen that the public works department completes the memorial works by the end of this month. There is also an idea to open a part of the memorial for the public by the first week of December, the AIADMK senior said adding that the AIADMK workers will also take a pledge to ensure that the Amma’s government continue to rule the state for another five years.
When asked about the plans that the rebel AMMK has for Jayalalithaa’s death anniversary, a senior AMMK leader said that the party will certainly observe it at AMMK headquarters, but if Chinnamma (VK Sasikala) is released from the jail before December 5, she would take a march towards the Marina Beach housing Jaya’s memorial.
It is a fact that the AIADMK is approaching AMMK workers, but we are waiting for the release of party leader VK Sasikala, the leader said.
