Worker dies in tragic tractor accident at popular Perth strawberry farm
A man has died in a workplace incident at a popular strawberry farm north-east of Perth after being crushed by machinery attached to the back of the tractor he was driving.
The deceased male, who is yet to be identified but has a listed address in Perth, was fatally injured about 9.30am on Wednesday at the Pick Your Own Strawberry farm on Old West Road in Bullsbrook.
The man was out in the strawberry fields alone and police said no one witnessed the tragic accident.
Nine News Perth reported the farm, which was a popular attraction for young families during the COVID-19 pandemic, had previously been raided by Border Force officers in relation to illegal immigrant workers.
Forensic officers attended the scene but police said no criminality was involved in the incident.
WorkSafe is also investigating the incident, and police will prepare a report for the coroner.
Pick-Your-Own managing director Lam Ti Muir said in a statement the details of the man's death were not yet known.
"Our immediate thoughts and prayers go out to the friends, family and our staff at this very difficult time," she said.
"We are cooperating with the authorities."
