MUMBAI: The wife of film producer Firoz Nadiadwala, who was arrested on Sunday for possession of 10gms of ganja, was released on bail on Tuesday. The 8th Metropolitan Magistrate court on Tuesday granted Shabina Saeed cash bail of Rs 15,000 and directed her to attend the NCB office once a week for a month.
Saeed's advocate Ayaz Khan said she was granted bail on the grounds that the amount of narcotic seized was small, and that the punishment for the same was upto one year's imprisonment. "Importantly, she is a consumer and hence the court took a reformation approach and granted her bail," he said.
A drug peddler, Wahid Sultan alias Mirza, who was arrested last week told the police that he used to supply drugs to Saeed.
On Sunday, NCB officials searched Saeed's Juhu house and seized 10gms of ganja. Firoz Nadiadwala's told the NCB on Monday that he had been living separate from his wife and that he had nothing to do with the drugs.
