PUNE: Pune rural police on Tuesday night arrested a criminal on the police records and his accomplice for shooting at two men with a country-made pistol following a quarrel over parking.
The incident happened at Wagholi on Tuesday afternoon. The victims Samir Base (34) and Irfan Shaikh (32) sustained bullet injuries and are undergoing treatment in a private hospital.
A team of local crime branch of the Pune Rural police led by senior inspector Padmakar Ghanwat arrested the criminal on the police records Hrishabh Shewale (22) and his accomplice Sanket Patil (21) from Hadapsar on Tuesday night.
"Shewale has four cases of body offences registered against him and he was related from Yerawada prison on parole about three months ago," Ghanwat said.
He said that on Tuesday around 12.45pm Sunil Gade (32) an owner of garage in Wagholi found that a commercial vehicle was parked in front the garage. When Gade told the driver to park the vehicle properly, the driver started abusing him. "The duo had entered into a brawl. Following which the driver summoned his accomplices to the spot," Ghanwat said.
About eight men including the arrested duo reached the spot and began attacking Gade, his brother Samir and friend Shaikh with sharp weapons. "When Gade's brother-in-law Santosh Satav tried to intervene, the suspect Shewale fired two rounds from his pistol on Satav. The bullets however hit Samir and Shaikh," Ghanwat said.
He said that Shewale and his accomplice Patil have been handed over to the Lonikand police for further probe, Ghanwat said.
