India recorded an average daily positivity rate of Covid-19 at 4.2% during the last week helped by decline in new cases and high number of testing, health ministry said underlining that India conducted an average of over 11 lakh tests daily during the last week. New cases per million population reported in the last seven days was at 235, against world average of 482. Countries like the US and UK reported over 2000, while France with much less population reported 5687. Similarly, India reported three new deaths per million population in last seven days, against 34 in the UK and 52 in France. India has conducted the second-highest number of tests for detection of Covid-19 in the world at 11.96 crore with rapid antigen tests comprising 49%, whereas 46% of the total tests were RT-PCR. Five per cent tests were carried out using CBNAAT and TrueNat, health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said. The cumulative positivity rate now stands at 7.18%. 'If we take into account last two weeks' figures, we are testing more than any other country in the world,' Bhushan said.
