New Delhi, November 11
The Delhi Police has arrested 30 persons on charge of selling firecrackers and seized 2,793 kg firecrackers during its drive against the sale and bursting of crackers ahead of Diwali, official sources said on Wednesday.
Also, 10 cases were registered regarding bursting of firecrackers and two persons arrested in this regard.
Delhi Police has set up flying squads at district level to check sale by licensed or unlicensed sellers. The SHOs have also formed special teams to prevent bursting of firecrackers before, during, and after Diwali.
The beat staff would ensure that no bursting of firecrackers took place in their respective areas.
The move comes after the National Green Tribunal (NGT) imposed a total ban on sale and use of firecrackers in Delhi and adjoining areas starting midnight of November 9 to November 30 in places with worse air pollution levels.
The District Deputy Commissioners of Police have constituted Police station-wise teams to supervise the implementation of the NGT order with regard to sale and use of firecrackers. IANS
