Yesterday, the Forest Minister of Assam has opened the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary for tourists

Yesterday, Parimal Suklabaidya, the Forest Minister of Assam, has opened the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary for tourists for the session 2020-21.


The minister of state for health, Pijush Hazarika and Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) chairman Jayanta Malla Baruah along with other senior district and forest officials took part in the inaugural ceremony.


The forest minister, Suklabaidya while sharing few pictures of the opening ceremony, had 0tweeted the following: “Along with Hon’ble MoS Shri @Pijush_hazarika, Hon’ble ATDC Chairman Shri @jayanta_malla
today attended the opening ceremony of Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary for tourists for the session 2020-21.”


In the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, along with the ATDC chairman, the forest minister relished jeep and elephant safaris on the same day. Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of 38.81 sq kms.


Nevertheless, it has pointed out that out of the total area of the sanctuary, 11 sq km land is under encroachment. In another tweet, Suklabaidya said that the forest department is trying all possible ways to implement an overall development of the wildlife sanctuary.


“This sanctuary being close to the hub of NE India, Guwahati is a huge booster of tourism & our Department is putting in all efforts for the overall development of the sanctuary,” the forest minister tweeted.
