Thief arrested, ornaments worth Rs 17 lakh recovered in Nalgonda

Nalgonda: Old habits die hard, goes the saying. An ex-prisoner, who was rehabilitated as a worker in the Food Court run by District Jail in Nalgonda, was arrested by Nalgonda Town-I police for committing thefts in different places in Nalgonda district.

The arrested was identified as Vangala Saidulu (27), a resident of Onti Sthambam Bazar in Nalgonda. The police seized 32 tolas of gold ornaments and 55 tolas of silver ornaments, totally valued at Rs 17 lakhs.

Presenting Saidulu before the media, Nalgonda Town-I Circle Inspector N Suresh said they took Saidulu into custody on suspicion after series of thefts were committed in the limits of  Nalgonda Town-I police station. During interrogation, Saidulu  confessed to committing five thefts in the limits of Nalgonda-Town-I police station, one each at Shaligowraram, Nakrekal, Munugode and Chandampet.

Earlier,  Saidulu was in jail for cases and come out on bail a few months back. He had managed to convince the jail officials to allow him to work in the food court run by the Jails Department to start a new life. He, however, returned to crime.
