Illegal sale of fire crackers on in Muktsar

Though the district administration has temporarily permitted a limited number of people to sell crackers this festive season, some shopkeepers are selling these in busy markets and narrow lanes illegally.

Taking note, the local fire safety office, too, has written to senior officers, expressing its inability to deal with any untoward situation. A visit to local markets revealed that crackers were being sold without permission. Sham Lal, sub-fire officer, Muktsar, said: “The administration has given temporary permission to some shopkeepers to sell crackers at four designated places in the town. However, some shopkeepers are selling crackers in some narrow lanes. We have written to the SDM and tehsildar, expressing inability to deal with any unwanted situation under such circumstances.” — TNS
