Counting of votes for Dubbaka Assembly byelection underway in Telangana

Hyderabad Nov 10 (UNI) The counting of votes for Dubbaka Assembly byelection in Telangana, which began at 8 AM in Siddipet is currently underway, amid tight security.
The byelection to Dubbaka assembly constituency, held on November 3 saw a 82.61 percent turnout as against 89.85 percent turnout in the 2018 assembly poll.
All eyes are on the result of the keenly contested byelection and the counting of postal ballots was taken up initially followed by votes in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
As many as 14 tables were arranged for the counting and there will be 23 rounds.
Police have made heavy bandobust arrangements at Indur Engineering college in Siddipet where counting of votes began and also imposed section 144 within 500 mts of the counting center.
While the ruling TRS hoped to retain the seat which fell vacant following the death of its sitting Legislator Solipeta Rama Linga Reddy, Congress and BJP were also optimistic about the outcome.
Solipeta Sujatha, wife of Rama Linga Reddy was fielded by the TRS while the BJP --M Raghunandan Rao and Congress nominated Cheruku Srinivas Reddy.
