Jamshedpur: The Surya Mandir Chhat Puja Committee on Monday said only 400 devotees will be allowed to perform the rituals on the temple premises on November 20. The decision was taken during a meeting attended by former chief minister Raghubar Das, who is the chief patron of the committee.
Das said the number of devotees was capped because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and those who are allowed to perform the rituals should observe social distancing.
He added that the selected devotees will be provided coupons on November 16 and only those with valid coupons will be allowed to enter and perform arghya to the Sun God.
Meanwhile, BJP workers and Rastriya Atal Sena members have started cleaning various ghats in the Steel City where Chhat rituals will be performed.
