IPL 2020 Final: Iyer, Pant half centuries take DC to 156/7

Dubai, Nov 10 (UNI) Half centuries from skipper Shreyas Iyer not out 65 off 50 and Rishabh Pant 56 off 38 helped DC achieve a fighting total 156/7 in 20 overs against MI in the IPL 2020 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, here on Tuesday.

However, it was 96 runs partnerships between skipper Iyer and Pant for the fourth wicket that stretched score to 156.

Top scorer were skipper Iyer 65 not out followed by Pant 56, Dhawan 15, others like Patel 9, Hetmyer 5 failed to reach double digit.

Winning the toss, DC elected to bat first against MI.

DC top three batsmen fell inside 22 runs in 3.3 over in form of openers Marcus Stoinis for a duck in first over first ball, Ajinkya Rahane for just 2 runs in 2.4 over and Shikhar Dhawan 15 off 13 (three fours) in 3.3 over.

Trent Boult claimed two wickets first Stoinis and second Rahane. Dhawan was bowled by Jayant Yadav.

DCs fourth wicket was of Rishabh Pant after scoring his fifty 56 off 38 balls (four fours, two sixes) in 14.6 over scalped by Coulter-Nile.

In the process, skipper Shreyas Iyer also completed 500 runs in this IPL. Hetmyer was the fifth victim when Boult bagged his third wicket in 17.2 over. Hetmyer's innings ended for 5 off 5 (one four).

Sixth and seventh wicket came in last over was of Axar Patel at 9 bowled by Coulter-Nile and Rabada was run out for a duck. Iyer 65 off 50 (6 fours, 2 sixes) remained unbeaten.

Trent Boult 3/30, Coulter-Nile 2/29 and Jayant Yadav 1/25 were wicket-takers for MI.
