Ramaiah Hospital introduces 20 minute rapid RT-PCR test for emergency patients

Bengaluru, Nov 10 (UNI) The Ramaiah Hospital, one of the premier HealthCare providers in the city, have introduced RT-PCR test, which can be made available within 20-minutes.
In a press statement issued here by the Hospital, it was stated that In a covid related development, Ramaiah Medical College Hospital has introduced the Rapid RT-PCR (CB-NAAT) tests for patients with emergencies, such as those who require urgent surgeries, pregnant women who are going into labour, patients whose conditions are rapidly deteriorating etc.
The rapid testing takes less than 20 minutes to test a patient for covid. The tests can also be administered on travellers and tourists.
The Hospital had started treating patients infected with the novel coronavirus as early as March 2020. So far Ramaiah Hospital has treated approximately 4,500 patients, and currently has 120-125 covid positive patients.
With the numbers falling, the hospital will resume the regular facilities such as general and super specialties. Patients from economically weaker sections can also avail subsidised treatments via government health schemes such as Aayushman Bharat - Aarogya Karnataka, Employee’s State Insurance (ESI), Aarogya Bhagya Yojana etc. Ramaiah Hospital has tied up with the Andra Pradesh government to provide free health care facilities to patients from Andra Pradesh through the YSR Aarogyashri Trust.
RT-PCR testing is available and very soon home collection of the samples will also be made available in accordance with the prices set by the government. The hospital is also one of the first in the city to provide a Post Covid Rehabilitation Centre to treat patients who, having recovered from Covid continue to face various ailments with respect to cardiology, neurology, psychological issues etc.
