Coronavirus India News LIVE Updates: Today is the 232nd day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown to help curb the novel coronavirus pandemic. So far, India has recorded 85,91,730 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,27,059 deaths. A total of 79,59,406 people have recuperated from COVID-19 so far. There are 5,05,265 active cases in the country as of date, which comprises 5.88 percent of the total caseload, the data stated. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 92.64 percent. 'Unlock 5.0' is underway. Puducherry posted two more deaths due to COVID-19 on Tuesday while the case tally touched 36,000 with 102 new additions. Both the deceased were women and hailed from Puducherry and Karaikal regions. Director of Health and Family Welfare Services S Mohan Kumar said in a release that the new cases were identified during the last 24 hours after examination of 3,721 samples.
The Director said of the 36,000 COVID-19 cases, 1,071 were active, 34,325 patients recovered and discharged.

Coronavirus in India LIVE updates | Health Ministry: 448 case fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours. Fatalities have continued to decrease with less than 500 fatalities reported for the second day.
Ten States/UTs account for nearly 78%. Although Maharashtra saw the most casualties (85), its contribution to daily deaths has decreased to 18.97%. Delhi and West Bengal follow with 71 and 56 daily deaths, respectively.

Human rights organisation Amnesty International has warned that despite the significant breakthroughs by leading pharma companies in developing a COVID-19 vaccine, much of the world will be left with little benefits in the fights against the coronavirus pandemic.
Amnesty said it is concerned that wealthy nations have already started hoarding COVID-19 vaccines.
“It is great news that the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is proving effective against COVID-19. However, it’s worrying that Pfizer-BioNTech has already struck deals with rich countries for more than a billion doses of its vaccine, leaving less than a quarter of its projected supply for the rest of the world,” said Tamaryn Nelson, Amnesty International’s Researcher on the Right to Health, in a statement on Monday.
