New daily covid positive cases drop below 1000 mark in Odisha ,Toll rises to 1454 with 13 fresh deaths

Bhubaneswar, Nov 10 (UNI) The new daily covid positive cases in Odisha dropped below 1000 mark with the detection of 987 cases in the past 24 hours.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said for the first time after almost three months and 20 days ,the new daily positive cases dropped below 1000.
Since July 20, 2020, the covid positive cases in the state were surpassing over 1000 marks.
Sources said during the last 24 hours 572 new cases were reported from the quarantine centres and 415 were found to be local contact cases.
Except Sundargarh district which registered 107 new positive cases, all the rest 29 districts in the state reported Covid infection less than 100 mark.
Khorda and Cuttack districts which have been registering high cases over the past few months, have reported 86 and 85 cases respectively in the past 24 hours.
The state also surpassed 50 lakh covid tests as till midnight of November, 9 as many as 50,27,259 tests were conducted of which 3,03,780 cases( 6.4 percent) were found infected with coronavirus.
So far 2,89,689 covid infected people have been cured and discharged from the hospital and the state has 12,584 active cases under treatment.
The covid toll in the state today went up to 1454 today after 13 covid patients from seven districts under treatment succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours.
Sambalpur and Mayurbhanj district reported three deaths each while two each died in Khordha and Sundargarh and one each succumbed to the virus in three other districts taking the total covid toll in the state to 1454.
The covid has claimed 253 lives in Khordha district,highest in the state followed by 232 in Ganjam and 120 in Cuttack district.
Puri district has registered 87 deaths and 80 covid patients have died in Sundargarh district followed by 71 in Mayurbhanj.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has commended N. Damburu Reddy from Kotharasingi of Ganjam District for donating plasma multiple times after recovering from COVID-19.
Such noble acts of many Good Samaritans helped save precious lives, he said.
