The Madras High Court is set to hear a plea on Tuesday over the release of videos on social media denigrating sitting judges and their family members, reportedly by former High Court judge CS Karnan.

Retd judge Karnan; Madras High Court
Chennai:
As the division bench comprising Justice M Sathyanarayanan and Justice R Hemalatha was winding up hearing the forenoon session on Monday, advocate CK Chandrasekkar mentioned before it that the former judge was continuing to upload videos on YouTube with disparaging remarks on sitting and former judges.
Unless the court issued a direction, the social media firm would not block the video and sought to hear the plea moved by the Bar Council making the government pleader and High Court Registrar as parties to put an end to it.
Expressing anguish over the videos dragging judges’ family members, the bench pointed out that PILs were being heard by three benches and added that it would be posted before the respective bench on Tuesday.
Women advocates had lodged a complaint with the Chief Justice of India about the retired judge being seen in five videos making threats of sexual assault against HC judges and their family members, and revealing the names of victims.
