K'taka: BJP bags graduates council seat

Dharwad, 10 Nov (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Candidate, S V Sankanur has been declared the winner of the West Graduates Constituency Election held on 28 October last to the Karnataka State Legislative Council, by the returning officer Amlan Aditya Biswas here this evening.
An official press release issued here today stated that Mr Sankanur (BJP) defeated his nearest rival Mr RM Kuberappa (Congress) by a margin of 11,409 votes. Mr Basavaraj Gurikar (Ind) secured third place.
Total Votes polled: 52,041, Total Valid Votes: 43,269 while a large number of 8,772 votes were declared invalid.
Mr SV Sankanur (BJP secured 23,857 Votes, Mr RM Kuberappa (Congress) polled 12,448 Votes, while Mr Basavaraj Gurikar (Ind) Secured only 6,188 Votes.
