Workers seek Rs25K minimum wage

Ludhiana, November 9

Representatives of various Mazdoor Unions yesterday gathered near Tajpur Road to oppose the recent decisions taken by the government.

Rajwinder Singh, president, Textile Mazdoor Union, said considering the spike in inflation, workers should be given salary hike and per piece commission. The minimum wages should be increased to Rs25,000 and the workday should be of eight hours. Both women and men should be given equal wages and there should be no disparity, they demanded. Workers saidthe employers should ensure the safety of workers on factory premises. — TNS
