BJP leads in Dubbaka Assembly bypoll after fifth round

Hyderabad, Nov 10 (UNI) BJP candidate M Raghunandan Rao was leading over his nearest TRS rival Solipeta Sujatha by a margin of 3,020 votes after the completion of fifth round of counting in the Dubbaka Assembly byelection on Tuesday.
Commenting on the party lead, BJP's @rammadhavbjp says that seeing BJP's lead against TRS in the Dubbaka Assembly bypoll, Telangana, it is likely to be a 'a surprise victory for BJP'.
BJP candidate M.Raghunandan Rao polled 16,517 votes while his nearest rival S.Sujatha of the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi secured 13,497 votes.
The Congress candidate Cheruku Srinivas Reddy obtained 2,724 votes. As many as 23 candidates are in the fray.
The counting of votes which began at 0800 hours at Indur Engineering College in Siddipet observing COVID-19 safety norms is in progress. The counting will be held in 23 rounds.
Tight security arrangements have been made in view of vote counting. Over 82 per cent polling was recorded in the bye-election held on November 3.
The byelection in the constituency was necessitated following the death of sitting MLA S.Ramalinga Reddy.
The TRS fielded Reddy's widow Ms.Sujatha for the seat.
