BHUBANESWAR: Candidates having this year’s National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) rank can register their names to take part in the medical counselling process, which will continue till December 15. The registration process will start from Tuesday.
Candidates can submit the application online and upload documents on the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) website for online verification between Tuesday and November 18. The OJEE authorities will publish the state merit list of registered candidates on November 21.
Choice-filling and locking will be carried out on November 23 and 24. After publication of the first round of seat allotment on November 26, they can download their allotment letters the same day. If a candidate is interested in taking admission, he/she can accept the seat by paying admission fees and downloading provisional admission letter between November 27 and November 30.
Odisha has around 1,400 MBBS and BDS seats in seven medical colleges. Of them, 1,219 come under the state quota. The OJEE, which is conducting the medical counselling process, will allot only 85 per cent of medical seats, leaving the remaining seats to the national quota. After admission into the national quota, the unfilled seats will be handed back to the state.
The state will receive the all-India quota seats (returned) on December 2. The OJEE will display a list of the vacant seats, including the all-India quota seats, the next day.
For the second round, candidates can register their names and submit their applications online on December 4 and 5. They can also upload documents for online verification during this time. Revised state merit list will be published on December 6 (3 pm).
Choice-filling and locking of newly registered candidates will be done on December 6 and 7. Candidates can download allotment letters on December 9 after publication of the second round of seat allotment. Students can accept the seat by paying admission fee and downloading provisional admission letter between December 10 and December 12. Tentative date of spot round counselling is December 15.
OJEE chairman SK Chand said candidates who had taken admission in the first or second round of counselling (all India/state) were not eligible to participate in spot counselling. “We are yet to get the seat matrix for medical counselling. We will receive this soon,” he added.
Director of medical education and training CBK Mohanty said there was no change in the number of medical seats this year. “It is similar to the previous year’s total,” he added.
