Bhupinder hits back Assy Speaker over 'Agri laws amendment' row

Chandigarh, Nov 9 (UNI) Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday responded to the Assembly speaker Gian Chand Gupta's statement, in which the speaker said that the proceedings were conducted in accordance with the rules.
Mr Hooda said that if the proceedings of the House would have been conducted as per the rules, then the speaker must have got the vote, considering the demand of the opposition.
Earlier, the opposition leader had said the “voice of the Opposition was ignored as the Congress’ amendment on the agricultural laws was not accepted in the proceedings of the House.”
For this, the Speaker replied that it was an ‘irresponsible’ remark citing the proceedings were conducted as per the rules.
"The opposition was continuously demanding voting on three new agricultural laws. By voting itself, the public would be able to know which party, which MLAs are standing with these bills and who are opposing them. But the speaker repeatedly refused voting, citing Rule 184, which is unfortunate. It seems that Speaker did not fully understand the rules. 183 precedes rule 184," Mr Hooda said.
