WT20 Challenge: Supernovas restrict Trailblazers to 118-8 in final

Sharjah, Nov 9 (UNI) Radha Yadav bagged a historic fifer (5/16) as Supernovas restricted Trailblazers to 118/8 in the final of the Women’s T20 Challenge at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, here on Monday.

After being invited to bat, captain Smriti Mandhana and Deandra Dottin gave Trailblazers a cracking start.

The duo added 71 runs for the first wicket before Poonam Yadav dismissed Dottin (20 off 32) in the 12th over.

The Trailblazers looked like on course for a 150-plus total till Mandhana was on the crease. However, she got stumped off Siriwardene in the 15th over and after that, it was all downhill for her team.

The spin duo of Poonam Yadav and Shashikala Siriwardene cut the flow of runs by picking wickets at regular intervals.

Smriti Mandhana played a captain's innings as she scored 68 off 49 deliveries but no other batswoman managed to capitalize on it.

In last 5 overs, Trailblazers could only score 17 runs. Radha Yadav bowled an excellent last over as she got rid of Ecclestone, Harleen Deol and Jhulan Goswami to restrict Trailblazers to 118 for 8 in 20 overs in final.

Radha Yadav ended with figures of five for 16 in four overs and became the first player to record a five-wicket haul in Women's T20 Challenge.
