GURUGRAM: The crime branch of Gurugram police on Sunday recreated the crime scene wherein Pooja Sharma, a software engineer, was shot by three masked men when she was out for a drive with her friend.
Police recreated the crime scene to understand what had happened on the night of the incident and what made the accused open fire and shoot Pooja without making any attempt to snatch the car. Till now, police have interrogated more than 200 people, including several people with criminal background and those who had committed crimes in the past in that area. Police have also interrogated the security guards posted in that area and shopkeepers of the area.
ACP (crime) Preet Pal Sangwan, who is heading the special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the case, said scanning of footage from CCTV cameras and technical surveillance has not helped in the probe. “We are working on some leads and trying to identify the accused,” said the ACP, adding that he cannot share much about the ongoing investigation.
In a few clips, the accused are seen riding on a bike on the wrong side of the road, but due to dark the footage is not very clear and police are unable to spot the registration number of the two wheeler. “The picture is not very clear. We can just see three people riding on a two wheeler on the wrong side,” said the officer. It could be a failed robbery attempt or it could be anything else. Police are still trying to figure out the motive behind the incident.
A day earlier, police had formed a special investigation team to solve the intriguing puzzle.
There have, so far, been no complaints suggesting foul play. But police are looking well beyond the possibility of a carjacking.
