
A man, believed to be in his 40s, was killed on Saturday afternoon when a taxi knocked him over in Houtkop Road in Vereeniging.
When ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene, paramedics found the man there and he was still alive. He was lying in the middle of the road.
The taxi that had struck him was found parked was found parked on the side of the road, a short distance away from where he was lying, ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said.
They quickly assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.
The man was treated and provided with advanced life support interventions before he was transported to Sebokeng provincial hospital for further care.
But, upon arrival at the hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries.
Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, Meiring said.
