US President-elect Joe Biden had declared on his maiden visit to Mumbai in 2013 that he may have Indian relatives. Biden was referring to a Mumbai resident who, he said, had written to him back in 1972. The man claimed they were both descendants of someone who worked for the East India Company. A few years later, Biden said his “great, great, great, great, great grandfather George Biden” was a captain in the EIC. Though there are no records of a George Biden, 2 siblings named Christopher and Henry Biden did serve in the EIC. Several established historians, however, haven’t yet found any direct connection between them and Joe Biden.
