GURUGRAM: The education department has proposed a plan for government and private schools to facilitate knowledge sharing between students from different backgrounds.
After reopening schools to stabilise the education system and overcome challenges in online education, the department has initiated a ‘twinning programme’ that aims to enable interaction between students from schools in rural and urban areas.
The programme, termed as ‘Milan’, aims to improve the learning outcome among the students in government schools. It also plans to improve the administrative and teaching capacities of the staff.
The programme is for students in the age group of 10 to 14 years (classes 6 to 8). It will include Government Middle School, Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas, Army School, other central government Schools, and private unaided schools.
“The programme is still at a nascent stage. It’s an idea where we intend to integrate the resources in the public and private education sector and work in collaboration to complement each other and not compete,” said a senior education department official. The education officers will have to chalk out a plan and identify suitable partners to ensure that the programme is mutually beneficial to both government and private schools. The district education officers have to constitute a district-level core team.
As per the department’s guidelines, around 10 students from every selected government school (minimum 2 or 3 students from each class) must participate in the programme.
