The UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT) recently published its latest Brexit Guidance Toolkit for members—a comprehensive guide to tariffs when selling to the European Union (EU) and importing into the United Kingdom, import and export value-added tax (VAT), exhibitions and samples, Common Transit Convention, contracts, design copyright, standards and labelling.
UKFT is in close contact with the government as the negotiations with the EU on a free trade agreement continue, the association said in a press release.
However, even if a deal is concluded before the end of the transition period, how goods are moved to and from the EU will be very different and companies should be prepared for major changes, it said.
UKFT is available to work with members to enable them to chart the best course for their business. Its team of industry experts can help the companies with the rules and regulations, as well as assist them by checking customs declarations. Its associate members can also advise on logistics, VAT, tax and legal issues.
The UK department for business, energy and industrial strategy (BEIS) recently released information and guidance for the retail sector to prepare for the end of the transition period of the United Kingdom’s exit from the EU. The period ends on December 31. For businesses and organisations in the retail sector, there will be new rules from January 1.
