HUBBALLI: Former minister and senior Congress leader Vinay Kulkarni has been sent to a 14-day judicial custody by the second additional district and sessions court in Dharwad on Monday.
Kulkarni was handed over to CBI custody by the court for three days on Friday, the CBI sleuths presented Kulkarni before the court via a video conference citing security issues on Monday. Vinay was being questioned by the CBI from last three days in connection with murder case of Zilla Panchayat member Yogishgouda Goudar at the CAR office in Hubballi.
In the interrogation process, the CBI officials summoned Kulkarni’s relative Chandrashekhar Indi, Yogishgouda’s wife Mallamma, Vinay’s former personal assistant Somashekhar Nemgouda, Nemgouda’s driver Pundalik Morabad, Congress leader Nagaraj Gouri to extract more information in the murder case.
Sources said that Vinay will be shifted to Hindalga jail in Belagavi by this evening and his family members are mulling to file a bail plea by this evening or by tomorrow morning.
The CBI had sought three-day custody of Vinay to dig more information in related to the murder case. The custody was ended on Monday, since Vinay’s followers and Congress party leaders gathered in large numbers in and around the court complex in Dharwad, the CBI sought the permission of court to produce the accused via video conference, said sources.
