Boy, 7, falls to death off 10th floor terrace in Chennai

CHENNAI: A 7-year-old boy died after he fell from the terrace of a 10-storey residential apartment complex at Vepery on Friday.
Police said R Rishi, a Class III student of a private school in the neighbourhood, was playing with his friends on the terrace when a portion of the glass parapet collapsed.
The boy fell on the groundon the apartment premises. The residents found the boy in a pool of blood and alerted his parents. The boy was rushed to a private hospital where doctors examined and declared him dead.
Later, the body was sent for autopsy.
Police said Rishi’s father Rohit runs an electrical shop in Sowcarpet.
Since the boy’s school has been closed for the past few months due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he had been attending online classes.
On Friday, after attending his classes, Rishi was playing with friends. Witnesses told police that Rishi was playing near the glass parapet which suddenly shattered resulting in the accident.
On information, police personnel from the Vepery police station visited the place. Further investigations are on.
