Thane: 39 investors duped of over Rs 6 crore, six held

KALYAN: Bazarpeth police in Kalyan arrested six people, including the owner and two managers of a private finance firm, for allegedly duping depositors with the ruse of heavy returns. Police have so far received complaints from 39 investors collectively cheated of over Rs 6.4 crore, and fear that several others were cheated. Rs 4 crore has been recovered from the accused.
The case was registered after IT engineer Akshay Mane (32) and his wife Nikita filed a complaint in October, alleging that they had been duped of Rs 69 lakh by Sankalp Finance company, run by a Prashant Kamble and his sister Hemlata Kambli. The police found that the owner Prashant, who died in July, and his sister were running the company out of three offices in Kalyan. They arrested Hemlata and her employees.
