AMBALA: The man accused of stabbing a teenager and his uncle at Panjokhra village of this district on Friday evening over a petty issue is under arrest after the boy’s death.
Accused Angrej Singh (24) of Tundli village in Ambala district will be produced in the court on Sunday. The murdered boy, Akash Kumar, 17, lived with his relatives at Panjokhra. His uncle, Ajay Kumar (32) of Sherpur Veeran village in Karnal district, got critical injuries in trying to save him. On his complaint Angrej Singh was charged with murder and attempt to murder.
Farm labourer Ajay told police: “I live in a rented room. On Friday, I went to Panjokhra’s Chacha departmental store with son, Kartik ‘Karan’, and nephew, Akash. Around 6pm, Angrej Singh came there on his motorcycle and picked a fight with the boys on the pretext that they were staring at him. When I intervened, he pulled out a knife and stabbed Akash twice in the chest. He attacked me three times with the same knife.”
Ajay’s police statement suggests further that as a crowd assembled, Angrej Singh dropped the knife and fled without his motorcycle. The bystanders helped Karan take Akash and Ajay to the Panjokhra primary health centre, where the doctor declared Akash dead.
