Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Sunday met Union Railway Minister Piyush Goel and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and urged for assistance and projects, including with regard including with regard Bhanupali-Bilaspur-Leh railway line in the state.
Thakur arrived here yesterday evening and left for the state after his official engagements.
During his meeting with Goel, he urged for hundred percent Central funding for the strategically important Bhanupali- Bilaspur-Leh railway line.
“The state has limited funds and requested for complete funding by Centre as the railway line is very important for the state as well as country,” Thakur said.
He reiterated state’s long pending demand for expansion of rail network, and identification of new rail routes to bolster state’s connectivity, which is by primarily by road presently.
The state government is also making efforts to beef up air connectivity.
Thakur also requested for support from Centre for setting up of Bulk Drug Pharma Park in Una district.
He reasoned the project would further bolster state’s credential as a leader in the field of drug production, besides help generate employment opportunities thereby boosting the industrial sector.
Himachal Pradesh is considered to be a leader in drug production and is a pharmaceutical hub of the country.
Thakur subsequently called on Rajnath Singh and discussed various issues. He sought support for setting up Bulk Drug Pharma Park in the state, which he said would boost its industrial growth.
