NEW DELHI: A brawl over a man urinating outside a grocery shop led to a death of a 28-year-old man in southeast Delhi's East of Kailash. Two brothers, Vinay and Vimal, the owners of the grocery shop, have been arrested, police said.
The man, Amandeep Singh, a resident of Garhi, ran a taxi business. According to police, during the early hours on Saturday, two different calls were received reporting a brawl at C Block market. A police team that reached the spot found that a 34-year-old man, Jagjeet Singh, had urinated in front of the grocery shop owned by Vinay and Vimal, following which an argument ensued between them. Jagjeet then left the spot but returned later with seven friends - Amit, Ramandeep, Gurvinder, Jaspreet, Jagat, Karan and Amandeep.
"A fight broke out between them during which some men from the area joined to help the brothers. When the situation went out of control, Jagjeet's friends fled the area. While fleeing Amandeep fell unconscious and collapsed near ISKCON temple. His friends rushed him to a hospital where he was declared brought dead," said DCP (southeast) RP Meena.
Amandeep's postmortem revealed that he had a sharp wound on the back. Based on Jagjit's statement, a case of murder was registered. Jagjeet along with Vimal, Vinay and Surjeet also sustained injuries.
After preliminary inquiry, both Vinay and Vimal were arrested. " The CCTV footage are also being scanned to establish sequence of events," Meena said.
