Covid toll rises to 1425 in Odisha, Tally surges to 3,01,574 with 2,86,857 recoveries

Bhubaneswar, Nov 08 (UNI ) Covid toll in Odisha rose to 1425 with the death of fifteen covid patients in the past 24 hours while the covid tally surged to 3,01,574 as 1434 people tested positive from 30 districts.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said three each died in Khordha and Sambalpur district, two each from Bargarh and Bolangir district while one each died in five other districts while under treatment in the past 24 hours.
Out of 1434 people found infected with the virus, 833 were from the quarantine centres and 601 were local contact cases.
Only two out of 30 districts reported more than one hundred positive cases. Khordha district registered 144 cases followed by Cuttack ( 141), Balasore( 99) and Sundargarh( 98 ).
Khordha district continued to be in the top in the fatalities with 248 deaths followed by Ganjam (232), Cuttack (119), Puri (87), Sundargarh (77) Balasore (71) and Mayurbhanj (67).
Official sources said so far 2,86,857 covid patients have been cured and discharged from the hospital and 13,239 active cases are under treatment.
Meanwhile, the state government has made partial modifications regarding the number of guests at marriage functions.
The District Collectors/ Municipal Commissioners shall take decisions on the number of persons to be allowed in such functions (limit of 200) keeping their local situation in mind.
The order has been Special Relief Commissioner has issued an order to this effect.
The State Government directed that all schools in the State shall remain
closed till December 31, 2020.

Shillong, Nov 8 (UNI) Meghalaya registered 155 fresh COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the active case count to 1,034, even as 116 persons also recovered from the viral infection, with the number of recoveries surging up to 9,075 as of now.
