Goa CM Pramod Sawant gets threat calls, police register FIR

PANAJI: Panaji police on Saturday registered an FIR against unidentified persons for allegedly threatening, using abusive language and demanding extortion money from chief minister Pramod Sawant.
Police said that the chief minister started getting threatening calls almost two months ago. Police said that since the chief minister started ignoring and disconnecting the calls, the accused started send threatening messages.
The Chief Minister’s Office stated that the calls are being received from United Kingdom and gulf countries. Police said that the SMSs sent to Sawant contained abusive language against him and his family.
Police said the accused threatened to kill the chief minister and his family if he fails to pay ransom money to the tune of Rs 50 lakh.
PI Panaji Sudesh Naik said the FIR is registered under various sections of the IPC and investigation is in progress.
