Chugh demands CBI probe in post-matric scholarship scam

Chugh demands CBI probe in post-matric scholarship scam

Chandigarh, Nov 8 (UNI) BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh Sunday demanded that the CBI investigation be conducted in the post-matric scholarship scam in Punjab which has defrauded lakhs of poor SC students and has resulted in misappropriation of crores of rupees that came as a central fund for the scheme.

In a statement, Chugh also demanded dismissal of Punjab Social Welfare minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot and disqualification of Phagwara Congress MLA BS Dhaliwal, who was director of the Social Welfare department when the scam took place

Chugh has taken strong exception to the fact that the chief minister Amarinder Singh instead of taking disciplinary action against Dharamsot and Dhaliwal gave them a clean chit as if the scam which involved bungling of Rs 63 crores took place with his connivance.

He said lakhs of poor SC students were on the roads now because even after completing their educational courses they have not received their degrees. The poor SC students are unable to get jobs and are facing a dark future.

Chugh demanded the Centre to intervene because the central grant of Rs 303 crores had been misappropriated and hand over the investigation in the matter to the CBI.
