Woman shot dead in broad daylight in Dumka

Dumka, Nov 7 (UNI) A woman was today shot dead inside her shop located on the main road of the sub-capital.
The deceased has been identified as Pushpa Himmatsinghka who ran a steel box shop on the main road and was also an active worker of the Congress party. Police said that nephew of the woman Rocky shot her dead over a family feud.
Rocky too ran a shop next to her selling the same items and during the last four years both the families had reached the police station on numerous occasions with their complaints about business rivalry.
Police said that in the afternoon Pushpa was cleaning a solar plate in her shop when Rocky shot her from close range. He also fired upon her husband and son who somehow escaped. After executing the crime Rocky fled from the spot.
Upon receiving information Dumka SP Ambar Lakra himself reached on the spot and inquired into the incident. He said that initial investigation has revealed that the woman was shot dead due to family and business rivalry.
Former cabinet minister Lois Marandi also visited the spot and condemned the incident. Agriculture Minister Badal also condemned the murder of an active party worker. He said that he has asked the SP to arrest the culprit within 24 hours.

Patna, Nov 07 (UNI) A 104-year-old retired soldier Sachchidanand Rana, who had fought in the Second World War and had also fought in Indo- China war in 1962 and Indo-Pak war in 1965, reached a polling station in Muzaffarpur district and exercised his franchise, while an estimated 45.85 per cent of the total electorate exercised their franchise till 3 PM in the third and final phase of Bihar Assembly elections in the 78 constituencies.
