Ludhiana, November 6

After watching the huge rush of customers in markets during Karva Chauth, shopkeepers are hopeful that dull scenario in the market will pick up now.

Ashok Kumar, from DK Electronics in Ghumar Mandi, said: “We are optimistic that in days to come, the sales will pick up. Karva Chauth has seen a positive trend in the market and people have come out for making purchases”, he said.

However, PROs working in Corporate Houses have a mixed opinion over Diwali this time. One of the PROs of a steel and yarn company said Diwali would be celebrated by the company as earlier and there will be no compromise while another belonging to the hotel industry maintained that it will be a low-key affair.

Abhay Kumar, general manager, Radisson Blu Hotel MBD, Ludhiana, said like previous years we are giving Diwali hampers this year as well. “Considering safety, hygiene and precautionary measures, most of hampers will be available on pre-orders”, he said. Earlier the hampers were ready and were given immediately whosoever asked for it.

As far as enjoyment of residents was concerned, there seems no compromise as the much-awaited card parties are already on. “The guest list may have become thin but the parties are on. It seems Covid-19 precautions have taken a back seat. A few persons are seen wearing masks these days”, said a homemaker, who actively takes part in card sessions every Diwali. The videos are doing rounds in which residents are seen enjoying card parties at hotels, farm houses, homes etc.
