Bihar Exit Polls Live: Early Exit Polls Show RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav In Pole Position

An exit poll carried out by TV9 shows a close race between the JD(U)-BJP and the RJD-Congress, with a slight lead to the latter.

This poll expects Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s alliance to be just short of the half-way mark in the Bihar assembly, expecting it to win 110-120 seats. The opposition alliance led by RJD’s Tejashwvi Yadav is seen being able to get closer to power, with a tally seen in the range of 115-125 seats. Chirag Paswan’s LJP is seen winning 3-5 seats, and others bagging 10-15

Seat and vote share projections in this exit poll are awaited.

In a survey asking respondents who they’d to see as chief minister, the exit poll found that 35% wanted incumbent Nitish Kumar to stay on, while 44% wanted to see his primary rival Tejashwi Yadav to get the job. BJP leader and current Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi was the preferred choice as chief minister of 3% of respondents. 7% said they wanted LJP’s Chirag Paswan as the head of government.

Exit polls carried out by C-Voter for ABP news projects the BJP-JD(U) alliance that is currently in power winning 104-128 seats on Nov. 10, and the opposition RJD-Congress-Left alliance bagging between 108 and 131 seats.

The Lok Janshakti Party led by Chirag Paswan chose it go it alone in these elections, and this exit polls sees it winning 1 to 3 seats.

Within the JD(U)-BJP alliance, the C-Voter exit poll finds that Nitish Kumar party could fall to a range of 38-46 seats, the BJP rise to 66-74, and two smaller parties, the VIP and HAM getting 0-4 seats each.

In the Mahagathbandhan, the RJD is seen holding steady to its tally in the outgoing assembly, and projected to win 81-89 seats. Its alliance partner, the Congress has been put at 21-29 seats, and the Left at 6-13

The exit poll conducted by research agency Jan Ki Baat for Republic TV projects the incumbent Janata Dal (United) - Bhartiya Janata Party alliance led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar winning around 91 to 117 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly.

This poll shows the opposition alliance of Rashtriya Janata Dal, Congress and Left Parties ahead of the JD(U), projected to win between 118 and 138 seats.

Any alliance needs will need to reach 122 to reach a majority, when votes are counted on Nov. 10.

The third and final phase of polling concluded in Bihar for 78 constituencies with 2.3 crore voters. That includes important constituencies like Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Supaul, Bihariganj, Purnia and Katihar. The turnout has been healthy so far with more than 45% of the voters having already cast their vote by 3 p.m., according to the Election Commission of India.
