LONDON -- Land Rover has promoted Massimo Frascella to the position of design director, according to Frascella’s social media profiles, including Linkedin.
Frascella takes over the position from Gerry McGovern, who moves to a new position of chief creative officer for Jaguar Land Rover, according to a report by Auto & Design.
Frascella became Land Rover's design director in October, according to his Linkedin profile. Previously he was creative director at the brand.
The Italian executive joined Land Rover in 2011 from Kia and was named an Automotive News Europe Rising Star in 2017.
McGovern, an Englishman, was appointed to lead Land Rover design in 2006 has been credited with reviving the brand with models such as the brand’s best-selling Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. His latest model to be launched is the revival of the iconic Defender off-roader.
