India recorded 50,356 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours and 577 deaths linked to COVID-19, government data released this morning shows. There are now a total of 84,62,080 Covid cases in India where 1,25,562 people have lost their lives to the coronavirus disease since January 30, when the country reported its first COVID-19 case.

With 53,920 people having fought off the highly contagious disease there were 5,16,632 active coronavirus cases, data shows. The total number of recoveries has surged past the 78 lakh mark, pushing the recovery rate to 92.4 per cent. '

COVID-19 negative report must for Haj pilgrims next year
Haj pilgrims will have to submit COVID-19 negative report 72 hours prior to their journey to Saudi Arabia in 2021, Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Saturday.

After holding a meeting with the Haj Committee and other stake-holders, the minister for minority affairs told reporters that December 10 is the last date for submitting applications for Haj pilgrimage 2021.

"The applicants can apply online, off-line or through Haj mobile application as well. In view of the coronavirus pandemic, we are making it mandatory for all the pilgrims to submit their COVID-19 negative report of RT-PCR test.

The date of testing should be 72 hours prior to boarding a flight to Saudi Arabia," he said.

Mr Naqvi also said embarking points for Haj 2021 have been reduced to ten in view of the COVID-19 situation and the feedback received from Air India and other agencies.

Previously, there were 21 such embarking locations across the country.

Coronavirus: Arunachal's COVID-19 Tally Rises To 15,325 With 81 Fresh Cases

At least 81 more people, including five security personnel and six health workers, tested positive for COVID-19 in Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday, pushing the tally in the state to 15,325, an official said. COVID-19: 1607 New Cases, 6 Deaths In Telangana

Telangana recorded 1,607 fresh coronavirus cases taking the tally to2.48 lakh while six more deaths pushed the toll to 1,372. COVID-19 daily cases in France cross 60,000

France has confirmed a new record of 60,486 COVID-19 cases within 24 hours on Friday, beating Thursday's tally of 58,046 cases, official data showed.

The cumulative number of people who caught the coronavirus stood at 1,661,853, the world's fifth highest tally, according to figures posted on the government's coronavirus information website.

Since the outbreak, France reported 39,865 deaths because of the coronavirus after 828 new patients died in one day.

Russia says rise in COVID-19 cases "alarming"

The Kremlin said it was alarmed by a rise in COVID-19 cases, but it was too early to judge the effectiveness of its policy of trying to contain the disease without a full lockdown.

Russia reported a record daily tally of 20,582 new cases, taking its total to 1,733,440 - the world's fourth largest behind the United States, India and Brazil.

"The trend is alarming, the pandemic is developing," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call. "The situation is being carefully monitored and analysed, and measures taken collectively... taking into account the specifics of a given region," he added.

Delhi Crosses 7,000 Daily Coronavirus Cases

The national capital reported 7,178 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours - the highest number of cases since the pandemic reached the city earlier this year. Until now the number of per day COVID-19 cases in Delhi had never breached the 7,000-mark.

For last three days, Delhi had been reporting over 6,000 coronavirus cases daily. The second-biggest spike in cases was on November 4, when the city reported 6,842 cases.

The cases are now at 4,23,831. Government data shows 64 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, and the death rate stands at 1.6 per cent, while the recovery rate is 89 per cent.
