Till 3 pm, 43.88 per cent voter turnout was recorded. Highest turnout is recorded in Saharsa district (48.98 per cent) followed by Supaul (47.90 per cent). The lowest turnout was recorded in Araria district (37.59 per cent). About 2.34 crore voters will decide the fates of 1204 candidates, including the Speaker and 12 members of the state cabinet. The first phase of polling happened on October 28 and the second phase on November 3.

Among the prominent candidates contesting in this phase are Speaker of the outgoing assembly Vijay Kumar Chaudhary of JDU, Bijendra Prasad Yadav (Supaul), Narendra Narayan Yadav (Alamnagar), Maheshwar Hazari (Kalyanpur), Ramesh Rishideo (Singheshwar), Khurshid alias Firoz Ahmed (Sikta), Lakshmeshwar Roy (Laukaha), Bima Bharti (Rupauli) and Madan Sahni (Bahadurpur).

Four ministers are in the fray from the BJP Pramod Kumar (Motihari), Suresh Sharma (Muzaffarpur), Binod Narayan Jha (Benipatti) and Krishnakumar Rishi (Banmankhi). Another keenly watched candidate is Subhashini Yadav from Bihariganj whose father, veteran socialist leader and former Union minister Sharad Yadav, had been a multiple-term MP from Madhepura under which the assembly segment falls. She is contesting on a Congress ticket.

The RJD candidate from Jokihat assembly segment Sarfaraz Alam, who seeks to wrest the seat from his own brother now contesting on an AIMIM ticket, has ended up being booked for violating model code of conduct, a senior official said on Saturday. Instructions were issued to lodge an FIR against Alam after he was spotted at a polling station wearing a badge denoting lantern the RJDs poll symbol, said District Magistrate Prashant Kumar.
However, Alam claimed it was an "oversight" and that he would "fully cooperate with any legal proceedings" that may arise out of the incident. Alam is the son of late Mohd Taslimuddin, a former Union minister and a controversial figure who enjoyed tremendous following in the Kosi Seemanchal region of Bihar, which had earned him the epithet "Seemanchal Gandhi".
Bihar Election 2020: From NDA, the BJP is contesting on 110 seats and JDU is fighting on 115. On the other side, the RJD is contesting on maximum number of seats followed by the Congress. Tejashwi Yadav is contesting on 144 seats while Congress on 70. Rest are divided among other constituents. In 2015, the RJD had emerged as the single largest party by winning 80 seats, 58 more than what it had got in 2010.

Bihar Election 2020: The maximum turnout of 24.87 per cent till 11 am has been recorded in the Araria district, and the minimum in Darbhanga (13.23). Bihar Election 2020: The third and final phase of elections is noteworthy because of the role the 'Owaisi factor' might play in some of the constituencies up for polls in phase-3. Headed by fiery Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, the AIMIM had registered a stunning victory in Kishanganj last year. It had defeated the Congress candidate whose son's election to Lok Sabha had necessitated the by-poll. Bihar Election 2020: Polling is underway in 78 assembly segments in which 2.35 crore voters are eligible to decide the fate of 1,204 candidates. Voting began at 7 am at all 33,782 polling stations where as many EVM sets and VVPAT machines have been installed and paramilitary forces deployed to maintain order. Of the total 2.35 crore voters in the 78 assembly segments, 1.23 are men, 1.12 crore are women while 894 are in the 'third gender' category.
Bihar Election 2020: Polling is underway for 78 seats in Phase-3. Among the candidates in the fray, 37 belong to Nitish Kumar's JD(U), 35 to the BJP, while five are contesting on tickets of junior NDA ally Vikassheel Insaan Party and one from the Hindustani Awam Morcha. Bihar Election 2020 LIVE | The poll opened at 7 am in these seats spread across 15 districts of north Bihar. According to the Election Commission, the polling percentage at 9 am was 7.69. The maximum 10.67 per cent turnout till 9 am was recorded in the Araria district, and the minimum (5.36 per cent) in the Katihar district. The turnout in the first phase till 9 am was 6.74 per cent, while in the second phase it was 8.05 per cent. BJP president J P Nadda appealed to people to vote in large numbers for development of the state. "Last phase of polling for Bihar assembly elections is taking place today. I appeal to people to vote in large numbers and vote for development of Bihar. People should ensure their participation in grand festival of democracy while keeping COVID related precautions in mind," Nadda tweeted.
