IIT-Hyderabad faculty bags Swarna Jayanthi fellowship

Prof. Chandrashekar Sharma is the first IIT-H faculty to bag the fellowship since the second generation IIT was established in 2008

Sangareddy: Prof Chandrashekar Sharma, Associate Professor at Department of Chemical Engineering in Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H), has bagged the Swarna Jayanti Fellowship in engineering sciences for the year 2019-20.

The prestigious fellowship is being offered by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. He was among the 21 prominent researchers across India, who were selected for the fellowship for this year.

Prof. Sharma is the first IIT-H faculty to bag the fellowship since the second generation IIT was established in 2008.

He thanked Prof U B Desai and Prof BS Murty, the past and current Directors of IIT-H, for their constant support. Sharma, who had completed his PhD from IIT-H Kanpur in the area of carbon based multiscale micro- and nano-structures in 2010 and joined as a faculty at IIT-H.

He has set up Carbon Lab at IIT-H, a start up. Prof Sharma has thanked his colleagues and family for their continuous support in his decade-long research career.
