Former editor of Manorama weekly Padman passes away

Kottayam, Nov 07 (UNI) Veteran Malayalam journalist and former editor of Malayala Manorama weekly K Padmanabhan Nair died here on Saturday due to old age.
He was 90 and is survived by daughters Chithra and Lakshmi and son Jayakrishnan Nair (Special Correspondent, Times of India), family sources said.
Padman began his career at Malayala Manorama and went on to head the local news section of the paper. He wrote the caption for the newspaper's popular pocket cartoon "Kunjukkuruppu" for 35 years.
After his retirement from the newspaper, Padmantook charge as the editor of Malayala Manorama weekly which was first published under the editorship of his father and eminent satirist E V Krishna Pillai. He retired from the weekly on December 31, 2001.
He was the founder of a children's theatre in Kerala in 1961. He was the founding president of Kerala Union of Working Journalists unit at Malayala Manorama. Later, he became president of Kottayam Press Club.
Prominent filmmaker late Chandraji (Ramachandran Nair) and versatile film actor late Adoor Bhasi were his elder brothers.
His prominent books are "Kunchukuruppum Prahladnum, Sahodaran Bhasiyude Jeevacharithram, Natakandyam Bhasyam, Bhasuram Hasyam, Kunhalakal Kunhadukal".

Give PF pension in accordance to salary within six months: Kerala High Court

Kochi, Nov 07 (UNI) Kerala High Court on Saturday directed to pay Provident Fund pension in accordance with salary within six months as per the previous order.
A division bench comprising Justices A M Shefeeq and P Gopinath directed to implement the court order issued on October 12, 2018, after settling around 80 contempt of court cases questioning the non-implementation of the previous verdict.
